Welcome to Teablogging

11 04 2009

Welcome to Teablogging.net! This site was created by famous internet celebrity and known liberal @StephanieInCA and is now brought to you by @ShortsandPants (Halden) to chronicle the lead-up to the April 15 conservative hysteria Tax Day Tea Parties and to serve as a central repository for low-brow teabag-related sex jokes.

Our intention was to wind down the site following the rallies on April 15; however, like any good tantrum, the Teabag Movement shows no signs of abating. So for as long as Teabaggers, Paultards, secessionists, Randians, fisters, Beckites, etc. continue to gather at parks and strip malls across the country to express poorly articulated outrage and thinly veiled panic, Teablogging will be here, bringing it to you live, and taking the lowest possible road… for freedom.

Around the site, you’ll find MSM and blog teabagging coverage, local Teaparty Infiltration Teams (TITs), a Teabagging FAQ and links to teaparty-related topics trending on Twitter. If you have a post you’d like to see included on Teablogging, email us at teablogging@gmail.com or wander on over to our Contact section.

A funny thing happened on the way to web stardom

3 07 2009

Tomorrow, it’ll be 300 days since I signed up for Twitter.

Since then, I’ve launched two blogs, been picked up everywhere from the Atlantic to Huffington Post to Countdown with Keith Olbermann, met some amazingly talented people, garnered more Twitter followers than the entire population of Hot Springs, South Dakota, got sued, got even, and moved 3,000 miles to take a job that’s largely focused on new media strategy. It’s been an incredible ride, and my head still hasn’t stopped spinning.

But in my new role as a “respectable adult” I’m under some obligations that don’t allow me to speak as freely as I’m used to, particularly when it comes to my twin passions of profanity and politics. I completely understand the reasoning behind these restrictions, and I’d respect them even if I didn’t as I am not especially keen to get myself fired and/or sued (again). But watered-down me is not me, and if I can’t tell Meghan McCain to eat an economy-sized bag of dicks in front of everyone on Twitter, I’m not sure why I’d want to tweet at all.

So I’m going to step back, drink heavily, take a week or so to think about the relationship between authenticity and new media success and consider where I want to go from here.

I’d love to hear what you all think. Send me an @ reply or DM or leave a comment below.
